If you’re someone who regularly smokes and you plan on doing long streams, you may find it hard to go a 5 or 6 hours without a cigarette. So what can you do? Obviously leaving your stream for 5 minutes to smoke will likely end up with a large portion of viewers leaving to another stream. We don’t want that.

So, are you allowed to just light up a cigarette on stream? Let’s jump in and find out.

Are You Allowed To Smoke Cigarettes On Twitch?

Smoking is not against Twitch Terms of Service which means you can in fact smoke on Twitch. However, Twitch still recommend not to smoke on stream and could potentially ban it outright in future. If you plan to taking streaming seriously as a career it is likely better not to smoke on stream as it could also put off potential future sponsors.

If you do want to smoke on stream then we would recommend activating the Mature content filter in your Twitch settings.

Alternatively if you want to smoke on stream you can take a quick break to smoke off camera but this may result in a drop in viewership. Perhaps you can just turn your camera off but keep your gameplay on screen while smoking.

Are You Allowed To Smoke Weed On Twitch?

Smoking weed on Twitch is not against their terms of service as long as it is legal in the region you are living. If it is illegal in the region that you live then you should definitely not smoke weed as it could end in you facing legal trouble.

Even though it is not against Twitch TOS they still recommend not smoking on stream. Just like with smoking cigarettes this could potentially put off future sponsors from your brand as well as some viewers. It’s not a good look to promote smoking to a younger audience.

Ultimately if you are in region where weed is legal you can smoke on stream. If you are going to we recommend turning on the Mature audience setting in twitch.

Are You Allowed To Vape On Twitch?

You are much more likely to see a streamer Vape on stream vs smoking cigarettes or weed. Again vaping is not against Twitch TOS and it is unlikely that you would get in trouble for vaping on your channel.

Again if you are vaping it is advised to turn on the mature content setting in Twitch.

Are You Allowed To Drink Alcohol On Twitch?

Can I Drink Alcohol on Twitch? Yes, you are allowed to drink alcohol on Twitch as long as you are being responsible. If you do take it too far and end up being sick or passing out on stream it could be seen as self harm. This could result in a ban from Twitch.

As long as you are drinking responsibly on stream there shouldn’t be any problems. Again turning on the Mature Content setting on Twitch is advised.

How To Turn On Mature Filter On Twitch

If you plan on Smoking, Vaping or drinking on Twitch then you should turn on the Mature content setting. To do this follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Twitch.tv and login
  2. Click on your profile picture in the top right hand corner and select Creator Dashboard
  3. In your Creator Dashboard navigate to Settings –> Stream on the left hand side
  4. Under Stream Key & Preferences you should see a section called “Mature Content”
  5. Slide this to on to enable the setting

Twitch recommends enabling this setting if your content is not suitable for younger audiences. When someone clicks on your stream they will be warned that it may include mature content before they navigate through to the stream.

Wrapping Up

So, there you have it. You can smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol on stream as long as you do it responsibly. If you are in a region where weed is legal you can also smoke it on stream. While we wouldn’t recommend any of these it is up to you if you want to partake in these while streaming. Enjoy 🙂
