Fifa 23 has just dropped however some players are facing major problems with their controllers on PC. They are reporting major lag or input delay essentially making it impossible to play the game.
In this article, we are going to cover how you can fix the controller input delay on Fifa 23 by utilizing the Steam client.
How To Fix Controller Not Working On Fifa 23
If you are experiencing input delay on your controller the first thing you should check is if you are playing wired or wirelessly. Playing wirelessly via Bluetooth causes an input delay on many games. The first Fix you should try is simply plugging the controller in via USB or USB-C. This may completely fix your problem.
If you are still facing problems then you will need to go through the fix below.
For some reason, Fifa 23 on Origin does not support PS4 or Xbox controllers. Luckily there is a fix for this.
Open Fifa 23 Via Steam
Currently, on PC, the best controller-compatible client is Steam. They support the most popular controller brands and have the least input delay. Origin are currently not supporting PS4 & Xbox controllers.
Luckily, even though Fifa 23 isn’t a Steam game, Steam allows you to add non-steam games to their client enabling their controller drivers.
- Open the Steam client and Navigate to the steam library
- In the bottom left corner select “Add Game” –> Add A Non-Steam Game
- A list of games will appear. Find and select Fifa 23 and click on “Add Selected Programs”. Fifa 23 will now be added to your Steam Library.
- Next click on Big Picture Mode in the top right corner
- Navigate to the settings COG and select Controller Settings
- Ensure that Xbox and Playstation configuration support are selected
- You will now be able to use your controller with Fifa 23 through the Steam client.
- Go back to the Steam library and launch Fifa 23 via Steam
- Your controller should now be working perfectly with no input lag
Overclock Your Controller
If you are still finding that you have input lag when using a controller on Fifa 23 then we would recommend “overclocking your controller”. You can do this using a program called hidusbf.
Simply install this program and follow the instructions or follow our tutorial on how to set it up. This should also reduce your input lag.
