TikTok is one of the best social media platforms to be on for streamers. No matter how small your following is, you have a chance to blow up on the platform. One of the best ways to improve your videos is by using captions on TikTok such as the ones below.

If you know how to add captions to TikToks, you have fair chance of engaging viewers and turning them into followers.

How To Add Captions To TikToks In Premiere Pro

While Tik Tok has its own automatic captions, it doesn’t give you much customization. If you are creating more complex edits of your stream highlights, you may want to add something a little more eye-catching.

In this article, we will show how to add captions to TikToks automatically in Premiere Pro. You can then customize these captions to your liking. Let’s jump in.

How to Add Captions to TikToks Automatically In Premiere Pro

When adding your captions on TikTok, I would recommend adding them after you have finished the edit. This makes your workflow much smoother as you don’t have to start deleting and moving captions around.

Once you have finished editing your video your timeline should look similar to below. This is the final cut without the text. Now that the edit is complete, we can start adding our text.

Here is a step by step account on how to add captions to TikToks or even create them automatically using Premiere Pro:

  1. Navigate to the Window tab at the top of Premiere Pro. Select the “Text” Window. The text panel will appear where you can see Transcript, Captions and Graphics.
  1. Click on the Captions panel and select “Transcribe Sequence”.
  2. Select the audio track with the audio you want to be transcribed. If you have multiple tracks with audio you want to transcribe, you can select Mix. Click on Transcribe to start the transcription.
  1. A progress bar will appear, letting you know how long is left. It can take a few minutes depending on your PC specs and the length of audio.
  2. Once complete you will be able to see your transcript in the transcript panel. Go through the text and edit any spelling mistakes you see. Depending on how well the algorithm can understand your voice, there tend to be a few mistakes here and there.
  3. Now click on the small “CC” button highlighted below. This stands for Closed Captions on TikTok.
  1. A panel will appear where you can adjust the settings for the captions. For most people, the default settings will work perfectly fine. Click on “Create”.
  1. Once your captions have been created, they will appear on your video and in their own dedicated track on the timeline. You can see below the captions appear in yellow.

You now have successfully added captions to your video in Premiere Pro. The only problem is, these captions are basic white text. For some videos, this may work perfectly but for others, you may want to change the size, font, color etc.

Let’s take a look at how you can do it.

How To Customize Captions In Premiere Pro

Customizing captions on TikTok in Premiere Pro is similar to customizing any other text.

Adjust All Text At Once

If you want to adjust all of your text at once, highlight all of your captions and navigate to the Essential graphics screen. Here you will find the Text Editor panel where you can change the font, size color and more.

Personally, I like to adjust the text to all caps by selecting the “TT” button. When you resize the text, scan through your caption to make sure all words are still visible.

How To Change The Color Of Specific Words

Highlighting keywords in a video is a great way to make them stand out and get your point across. Follow the steps below to highlight text.

  1. Select the caption you want to adjust on the timeline and select the Type Tool
  1. Click on your text and highlight the section you want to change the color on.
  2. In the Essential Graphics panel scroll down to the appearance section and adjust the fill color to your liking.

You have now successfully adjusted the color of the text in your video. Go through each caption you want to have a highlighted word and adjust accordingly.

Wrapping Up

You have now successfully learnt how to add captions to TikToks automatically. This is a great way to make your videos hold retention much better and make the videos easy to watch for people who do not have sound turned on. You’ll most likely see a nice jump in TikTok views using this strategy.
