Can You Change The Font On Discord?

No, you are unable to customize the font in Discord without using a third-party tool. You can adjust some settings such as font size and line height in the Discord settings but there is no option to upload your own custom font currently. Read on to find out how to adjust your text in Discord.

If you are willing to use a third-party tool in discord, you can change the font. The tool is called Better Discord however it is against Discord Terms of Service to use this tool. While it is very rare that anyone gets banned for using better discord, you are taking a risk when installing it on your computer.

How To Change The Font Using Better Discord

  1. Download and install the Better Discord App. Click on the download button and follow the on-screen instructions to install.
  2. Once Better Discord is installed navigate to Settings –> Better Discord –> Plugins

  1. Download the Better Discord Fonts Plugin. In the plugins section of Discord click on “Open Plugins Folder”. Drag the font plugin file into this folder.

When you drag the file into the plugins folder you will see the Google Font plugin appear inside the plugins section.

  1. From the dropdown menu you can now select the font you want to use on Discord.

You can now see my font has changed and looks different than the original Discord font.

How To Send A Message In A Different Font

While you are unable to change the default font in Discord, you can send specific messages on Discord in different fonts. To do this you need to use a website such as LingoJam to generate your text.

Follow the steps below to generate messages in a different font:

  1. Go to LingoJam
  2. Enter the message you want to send in the left box
  1. Your message will get generated in many different fonts on the right-hand side. Simply select the one you like and copy it.
  2. Go back to your Discord Server and paste your message into the chat
  3. Send your message

As you can see the message gets sent in a different font.

You can also use this method to change the Font of your Discord Server name. This can help make your Discord server stand out.

How To Change Text Size On Discord

If you don’t want to add a custom font and want to stick with the default settings you can make the customizations outlined below.

In Discord navigate to Settings –> Appearance –> Scroll down to text settings. Here you will see the three options below.

Chat Font Scaling – This allows you to adjust the size of your text in Discord. Make it bigger the text will get bigger. Make it smaller and the text will get smaller.

Space Between Message Groups – This will adjust the space between the groups of messages on your Discord chats.

Zoom Level – This will zoom in and out of discord adjusting the resolution of the application. The lower you go the more you will fit on screen. The higher you go the bigger everything will get and the less will fit on the screen.

How To Change Discord Font Size On Mobile

You can also adjust your Discord font size on Discord for Android. Unfortunately, you are unable to edit this setting on iOS. Simply follow the steps below to access your font size settings on mobile.

  1. Click on your profile in the bottom right corner
  2. Navigate to User Settings
  3. Select Appearance
  4. In the font chat scaling section you can adjust the size of your font

Once you adjust the size and go back to your chats, you will notice the font size has now changed.

How To Write In Different Fonts In Discord

Discord does allow you to create bold, italic or crossed-out messages. You can see how to do these below:

Strikethrough

If you want to use strikethrough in your text add ~~ at either end of the body of text. For example, if you want to send “hello” with a strikethrough type ~~hello~~ in discord.

Bold

If you want to bold your text add ** at either end of the body of text. For example, if you want to send “hello” in bold you would type **hello** in discord.

Italics

If you want to add italics to your text add * at either end of the body of text. For example, if you want to send “hello” in italics you would type *hello* in discord.
