Skill-based matchmaking has been in Call of Duty for years now but it seems to get stronger and stronger with every release of the game. This year with MW2 the game honestly just didn’t seem fun as I couldn’t run up any streaks. So, how to disable SBMM in MW2?

Now, I don’t expect to drop a nuke every game but it seems like this game I end up with a 1KD at the end of every match.

The way it used to be I would maybe have a couple of games where I pop off then I would end up in a harder lobby where I wouldn’t do as well. Now it’s just a 1KD simulator.

So, if you want to get into easier lobbies how can you do it? Well, there is a couple of methods and one of them is reverse boosting which requires you to either have 2 copies of the game or ruin your stats. Another option is to run VPNs and get into lobbies in other countries. While these methods do work, it’s a lot of work for someone who just wants to come home from work and enjoy Call of Duty for an hour.

In this guide, I am going to show you a setting in MW2 and Warzone that will allow you to get easier more casual lobbies without having to use any complicated techniques.

How To Disable SBMM In MW2 & Warzone 2

There is no option in MW2 or Warzone to disable skill-based matchmaking completely however we can turn off a setting called crossplay which allows us to get into easier lobbies. Crossplay is the setting that allows you to play with players on other consoles such as PC, Xbox and Playstation.

When this is enabled there is a massive pool of players which you can be paired with. This makes it easy for the game to find players who are of a similar skill level to yourself.

When you turn crossplay off, there will be much fewer people for the game to put you up against meaning you have a much higher likelihood of finding an easier lobby. The SBMM range gets wider so it can find you a lobby quickly with reasonable ping.

Also if you are a console player and are playing against mouse and keyboard players on PC, you are at a bit of a disadvantage have they have an easier time with the movement and aiming.

If you turn crossplay off you won’t have to come up against these sweaty players all the time.

You will still get some sweaty lobbies here and there but the average lobby will be much easier to play in than before.

Of course, when you disable cross-play, you will be unable to play with friends who are on a different console than you. I recommend just switching it on and off when you need to play with friends. Let’s take a look at where the setting is in game.

If you are having trouble finding games with a poor connection after disabling crossplay, ensure that you have an Open Nat Type In Warzone.

Wrapping Up

So there you have it. This is one of the easier ways to get into easier lobbies in the latest Call Of Duty. You should now be able to jump in and have a good time with your friends without getting wrecked by seemingly MLG pros who are slide-cancelling and bunny hopping with $300 controllers.

Using this method has allowed me to have a much more enjoyable experience with MW2 this year.
