The VeinMiner Mod can be added to Minecraft to significantly decrease the number of time players spend collecting resources from ore veins. In some cases, players have reported that after installation of the mod, they haven’t noticed any change in the game.

With this guide, we will be troubleshooting the VeinMiner Mod in Minecraft and outlining the steps that you need to take in order to get it working.

How to Fix Minecraft VeinMiner

VeinMiner can be fixed through in-game configuration if it is not working as intended. Follow us as we walk you through how to properly configure VeinMiner so you can start using it in Minecraft.

How to Properly Install VeinMiner

To load VeinMiner into Minecraft, you are going to need Forge. Installing Forge is simple and will allow you to install downloaded mods for Minecraft from the web.

  1. Download the installer from Minecraft Forge’s website.
  2. Start up the downloaded installer.
  1. Click on “Install client” and hit “OK”.
  2. The setup will add a folder to your Minecraft directory in %appdata%.
  3. Open up File Explorer, and type %appdata% in the address bar.
  1. Go into the .minecraft folder, and open up the folder for Minecraft Forge.
  2. You can paste your downloaded mod files to load them in.
  3. Download VeinMiner from CurseForge and paste it into the Forge folder.

Once you’ve loaded up your Forge version of Minecraft from the client, you can see that VeinMiner will appear in the list of “Mods”, viewable from the Main Menu.

Configuring VeinMiner

After adding Minecraft’s VeinMiner to your Minecraft Forge, you will have to go into “Options” from the Main Menu, and scroll down to the bottom in “Controls”.

Here, you will see three options, “Excavate”, “Shape Edit”, and “Shape Toggle”.

  • Excavate – The button assigned to this task will be used to mine entire veins at once.
  • Shape Edit & Toggle – Used to outline a shape to mine in, while allowing you to edit the size and the shape itself.

If you’re using the right controls, and VeinMiner still doesn’t seem to be working, you will have to perform some manual settings to make sure VeinMiner knows what to mine in a bulk.

To do this, type in the chat dialogue “/veinminer blocklist pickaxe add minecraft:(ore name).” Upon typing the command, you will see a list of options to choose from. Iron ore would simply be input as “iron_ore”.

“/vm blocklist axe list” will show you all blocks that can be Vein Mined with an axe, or any other weapon that you mention in the command.

After you’ve manually configured VeinMiner, try breaking the material with its designated tool to see if the mod works.

VeinMiner Won’t Recognize Any Tools

Considering you’ve followed all the steps down to the last detail, and VeinMiner still refuses to work, there might be a conflicting mod that you may have installed before.

An example of such a mod would be “CraftTweaker” which changes the item ID for different tools when they lose durability. VeinMiner will not be able to recognize this change in ID; thus, any tools assigned to Vein Mining will not work as they should.

To fix this, you will have to uninstall the conflicting mod entirely to allow Vein Miner to work. If you don’t know which mod is causing the issue, try going through each one by one until you find your answer.

Wrapping Up

VeinMiner is considered to be essential for Minecraft players since it saves so much time. Since it’s a community-developed mod, there are a bunch of bugs that you will run into from time to time.

As the player base around the mod grows, the creator continues to install fixes to different problems. You can check out the GitHub forums for more reports regarding crashes and incompatibility problems to keep an eye out for any potential solutions suggested by the community.
