We all love Warzone but half the fun of playing it is the interaction with your team and friends. If you’re playing online with your friends, you can jump into a party and start hunting dubs right away. However, what if you have a friend around at your house or you want to play with your brother or sister? Does Warzone have a split-screen option? Let’s jump in and find out.
Does Warzone Have A Splitscreen Option?
No, unfortunately, there is currently no way to play split-screen in Warzone. In the Warzone menu, you will see an option that says “add a controller for split-screen”. When you try to add a second controller you will be met with an error stating you are unable to add a second controller.
This option is there because split-screen is available in Modern Warfare 2019 for multiplayer gameplay. Unfortunately, they have not yet ported this feature into Warzone and it doesn’t look like they plan to any time soon.
As Warzone has been out for over 2 years now and they have still not added the feature, it is unlikely that we will see it. However, the release of Warzone 2 is just around the corner. We hope to see them bring the split-screen feature with the second iteration of the game.
How To Play Warzone With A Friend Locally?
If you regularly have a friend at your house or want to run duos with your sibling, the best way to do it is by getting a second console. While this isn’t what everyone wants to hear, it is really the only way you will be able to play together in your house.
We would recommend looking into a second hand Playstation 4 or Xbox One which can now be picked up pretty cheaply somewhere like Facebook marketplace.
Warzone is also free to play so you won’t need to purchase another copy of the game to party up.
How To Split Screen In Modern Warfare
If you are looking for a split-screen Call of Duty experience then your best bet is to play split-screen in Modern Warfare. As long as you have two controllers, you can jump into a private match and 1v1 each other or jump into public lobbies together in split-screen mode.
Follow the steps below to activate split-screen in Warzone:
- Open Modern Modern Warfare multiplayer
- Connect a second controller to your console
- On the second controller press X (Playstation) or A (Xbox) to join the lobby
The second person will now be in the lobby. You can search for games or set up a private match to play together.
Some game modes may be locked as they do not allow split-screen. Game modes that do not have the lock beside them are available to play in split-screen mode.
