You have probably seen it on other Twitch channels where viewers are able to check how long they have watched you for in total. This is definitely an interesting stat for viewers and breeds some competitiveness between viewers in your chat as well as increasing your overall watch time. This is good for everyone as you get more watch time and your viewers can have some competitive fun in chat.
In this tutorial I am going to break down how to enable the !watchtime command in your stream using the Stream Elements chat bot. Let’s jump in.
How To Set Up !Watchtime Command On Twitch
To set up the watch command on Twitch you will need to use a third party chat bot. In this tutorial we will be using Stream Elements.
Step 1 – Make StreamElements A Mod In Your Channel
If you have not already made Streamelements a mod on your channel you will need to this before any commands or auto moderation will work. To do this open up your Twitch channel and navigate to Profile Picture –> Creator Dashboard –> Chat Box.
In the chat box type /mod streamelements
This will mod the Streamelements chat bot in your chat allowing you to use commands on in your stream.
Step 2 – Turn On Loyalty In Stream Elements
Before enabling the watch time command we need to turn on loyalty otherwise everyones watch time will return as zero.
To do this open streamelements.com and in the left hand menu navigate to Loyalty –> Loyalty Settings –> Enable Loyalty.
Once loyalty is enabled we can now enable the watch time command.
Step 3 – Enable The Watch Time Command In Stream Elements
Luckily stream elements already has a watch time command built into their software. All we need to do is make sure it is enabled.
To enable the watch time command go to the left hand menu in Stream Elements and navigate to Chat Bot –> Chat Commands –> Scroll Down to !Watchtime.
If the watch time command is enabled, leave it as is. If it’s disabled, enable it.
You have now enabled the watch time command for your viewers using the Stream elements chat bot.
To let users know that you have watch time enabled you can add !watchtime to your title so that they know to use it when they enter your stream.

Why Does My Watch Time Command Return 0 for Everyone On My Stream?
If your watch time command is returning 0 for everyone on your stream you most likely have not enabled Loyalty in Stream elements. Without loyalty turned on the watch time command will not work.
To enable Loyalty go to Loyalty –> Loyalty Settings –> Enable. This should completely fix the issue for you.
Can I Use The Watch Time Command On Youtube?
Unfortunately, if you stream on Youtube you cannot currently use the watch time command. Hopefully, Youtube will add a similar functionality in the future.
You should now have the popular watch time command enabled on your twitch stream allowing you users to see how long they have spent watching your stream. Enjoy finding out who your true fans are!
