Recently I hopped onto Fortnite for the first time in a long time on my computer. With the new no build game mode coming out I thought I would give it a go again.

I run two monitors on my computer with my gaming monitor being my secondary Monitor. Of course Fortnite opened on my first monitor and it really didn’t seem like there was an easy way to move it in the video settings without going into Windowed Mode.

In this article, I am going to show you how to switch monitors in Fortnite so you can play on a second monitor. Let’s jump in.

How To Switch Monitors In Fortnite

Unfortunately, Fortnite did not make it easy to switch over these monitors. Most games have an option to switch between outputs on your computer but Fortnite does not.

There are two methods you can use to change monitors on Fortnite:

Switch Monitors Using A Keyboard Shortcut

If you want to play full screen on your second monitor (which you probably do) then you will want to use this method.

  1. Open Fortnite in full screen from the options menu.
  2. Once the game is on full screen, hold down Windows key + Shift + Arrow Key. Click the arrow key in the direction of the screen you want to switch to.
  3. Your game should now switch to your second monitor in full-screen mode

You can now enjoy Fortnite in all it’s glory on the monitor you intended.

Switch Monitors In Windowed Mode

If you do not want to play in full-screen mode and are okay playing in windowed mode you can simply drag your window onto your second monitor.

  1. Open your Fortnite Video Settings
  2. Select windowed mode
  3. Drag your window to your second monitor
  4. Change your resolution in Fortnite to the same resolution as your second monitor.

You can now play on your second monitor, however it will be in windowed mode which isn’t the ideal playing format but it is a workaround.

Wrapping Up

Hopefully one of these methods has helped you to get Fortnite working on your second monitor. If you have a gaming-specific monitor you want to make sure you are playing on it to get the most out of your gaming sessions.
