Are you sitting in someone’s Twitch stream love their taste in music. They’re playing banger after banger. How can you figure out what song they are playing? In this article we are going to take a look at different ways you can figure out the songs they are playing. Let’s jump in and take a look.

How To Tell What Song Is Playing On Twitch

There are multiple ways to find out what song is playing and it will differ depending on who’s stream you are watching. Some people may display a now playing bar on their stream and others you will have to use an app or extension to find the song. Below are the options.

Check For Now Playing Bot Or Card

This is the first step as it is the easiest. Some streamers who regularly play music on stream will display a “now playing” section on the screen. If you are on this article that’s probably not the case. The next thing to check is if they have a bot in their chat that will tell you the current song.

If the user has a bot installed in their chat you might be able to get the current song from the bot.

The streamer will have defined a command you can use to check the song. This is usually !song. When you type “!song” in chat the bot will respond with the song that is currently playing.

If you can’t find the song using this method check out the others below.

Use A Song Identifying App On Your Phone

The next best way is by using the Shazam app on your phone. Shazam is the original song identifying app and has been around for years.

Open the Shazam app on your phone and play the stream out loud through your computer speakers. When the stream is playing out loud, hold your thumb down on the Shazam app. The app will then take a few seconds to scan and identify the song playing.

Shazam will tell you what the song is and link out to places you can stream or purchase the song.

Use A Song Identifying Extension On Your Computer

Shazam has actually just released their own browser extension for Google chrome. This means that you can scan the Twitch stream directly from your browser. If you use headphones on your computer this is a much better option than using your phone.

Click here to install the Shazam extension on your computer. Once the extension is installed follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Twitch stream you want to identify songs in
  2. Click on the Shazam extension in your browser extensions
  3. Once it opens up click on the Shazam button
  1. Shazam will listen for a couple of seconds
  1. Shazam will then give you the song and a link to purchase or stream it.

Ask The Streamer

If everything else fails you can go back to the good old fashioned way. Simply ask the streamer what song they are playing. They are probably playing the song from a streaming software and will be able to quickly glance at it and tell you the name of the song.

Wrapping Up

You should now be able to find any song on Twitch using one of these methods. You can also use Shazam anywhere else in your life to find cool songs to listen to.
