Who Is ImperialHal?
Philip “ImperialHal” Dosen is a 23-year-old professional Apex Legends player. He plays for Team Solo Mid (TSM) FTX and is considered one of the most decorated Apex professionals today.
ImperialHal has led TSM to six first-place finishes in multiple S-Tier and A-Tier tournaments from 2019 to 2022.
He is also one of the highest-earning Apex Legends streamers – both in streaming and tournament earnings.
He previously played for the Cloud9 H1Z1 team and also competed in Fortnite tournaments wherein he qualified for the Twitchcon 2018 Fall Skirmish.
Besides Apex Legends, ImperialHal also plays other games such as Naraka: Bladepoint.
ImperialHal Legends Settings
Apex Legends has a lot of settings that you can tweak to your liking. But if you are just starting out, one of the best ways to set your game is to copy what professionals you and then adjust from there.
Here are the Apex Legends Settings of ImperialHal.
ImperialHal Apex Legends Mouse Settings
ImperialHal uses low sens which is not applicable to everyone yet feel free to try it out and see if it works for you.
DPI | 400 |
Mouse Sensitivity | 2.2 (sometimes 1.4) |
Mouse Acceleration | Off |
Lighting Effects | On |
Polling Rate | 1000 |
ADS Multiplier | 1.0 |
Mouse Invert | Off |
This Apex Legends mouse setting is slow compared to other players. But this sensitivity provides ImperialHal the right speed and movement to flick and track opponents effectively.
Test his settings and if you are going to adjust it, make sure that you do it slowly. Remember, adjusting the settings is also about micro tuning.
ImperialHal Apex Legends Video Settings
According to ImperialHal, he does not show his video settings before. This is because people would think that if they would copy his settings, they would immediately be as good as him.
His reason is fair enough. But sometimes copying from professionals is a good strategy to learn quickly.
Display Mode | Full Screen | Full screen maximizes frame rates |
Aspect Ratio | 16:9 (native)
Resolution | 1920 x 1080 (native)
Field Of View (FOV) | 110 | ImperialHal uses max FOV because it gives more visibility. |
FOV Ability Scaling | Disabled | This disables the added FOV whenever Bloodhound or Octane uses their abilities. |
Sprint View Shake | Minimal | This will keep your screen steady while running. |
V-Sync | Disabled | ImperialHal mentioned that V-Sync is horrible. Do not turn that on. |
NVidia Reflex | Enabled + Boost | This reduces latency and lag. |
Adaptive Resolution FPS Target | 0
Anti-aliasing | None | |
Texture Streaming Budget | Very Low (2GB VRAM) | He sets it to very low because of the skins. Turning this one of would make your skins look garbage. |
Texture Filtering | Disabled
Ambient Occlusion Quality | Disabled |
ImperialHal has a top-of-the-line gaming PC with a separate streaming PC. Despite this, Hal still reduces his graphics settings to the minimum to get the most framerates possible. He prefers to get the most consistent FPS and graphics quality is just secondary.
ImperialHal Gaming PC Setup
CPU | Intel i9-10900K (possible i9-12900K) |
Graphics Card | Nvidia RTX 3090 |
Memory | 32 GB 3200 Mhz (Tentative) |
Power Supply | 1000W PSU (Tentative) |
ImperialHal has not made his gaming PC specs public. But considering that he is part of one of the largest esports organizations today, he has the latest and fastest gaming PC parts.
He most likely has the Intel Core i9-12900k processor, the Nvidia RTX 3090, and other parts that match his setup.
It is still a mystery what parts he uses. Do not worry though because we have an idea about the gaming peripherals that he uses.
ImperialHal Gaming Peripherals
Monitor | BenQ Zowie XL2546K (But there were reports that he is using the Alienware AW2521H Gaming Monitor) Both are 240Hz and 24.5 inches displays. |
Keyboard | Logitech G Pro X |
Mouse | Logitech G Pro X Superlight |
Mousepad | Logitech G640 TSM Edition Mousepad |
Earbuds | Logitech G Earbuds (Sennheiser CX 300-II based on his stream with the !earbuds chat command) |
Headphones | Logitech G Pro Headset |
Microphone | Audio-Technica AT2020 Cardioid Condenser Microphone |
Camera | Sony A7 III Mirrorless Camera |
StreamDeck | Elgato StreamDeck |
ImperialHal and Team Solo Mid are sponsored by Logitech, thus most of his peripherals are from them. However, he had a stream where his girlfriend, Brie, criticized his Sennheiser CX 300-II for its asymmetrical design.
Moreover, his mousepad could possibly be the Artisan Hayate Otsu if not the Logitech TSM edition mousepad.
What Is ImperialHal’s Reticle Settings
ImperialHal uses the default reticle at the moment. But back when custom reticles were allowed, Hal used a reticle that is dark and almost translucent. This allows him to see his enemies easily with no color blocking his sight.
Why Does ImperialHal Use An Earbuds
ImperialHal has explained that he and other pros use earbuds because, during local tournaments, they need to wear noise-canceling headphones over earbuds. This is why they use earbuds regularly to get accustomed to them.
There are no good noise-canceling earbuds at the moment. During tournaments, such as the X-Games Poland, they have to wear earbuds and cover their ears with headphones.
But at the same time, Hal has mentioned that earbuds are more comfortable to use. It does not give him a hair dent and is better for long hours of gaming.
Why Is ImperialHal Called The CEO Of Apex
ImperialHal coined that monicker because his fans called him the CEO of Apex. It is mainly because he is the most decorated Apex Legends player to date.
He is also the biggest Apex Legends streamer. During tournaments, he pulls the most Twitch viewers. Sometimes his POV stream gets higher views than the official broadcast.
Moreover, fans consider Hal the CEO because he stayed through the ups and downs of the games. Other professional players tried to switch games but Philip stuck to it and continued to provide feedback on how to make the game better.
His passion for the game is also a running joke in the community with him changing his name to Passion. He is the best example of Apex grind to be on top.
Wrapping Up
ImperialHal has already cemented himself as one of the Mount Rushmore of Apex Legends and it is understandable why people want to know his game settings – so here they are. Remember though, that these settings are his personal preference and it may not work with you.
