Overwatch 2 is out on all platforms and is attracting attention from new players and veterans alike. The vibrant hero shooter often becomes very competitive as players try to best each other with new strategies and counterplays.

In a game like Overwatch 2, having the max amount of FPS  and a lag-free experience can help you clutch rounds and turn imminent defeat into a victory. This guide will talk about the best settings you can apply in Overwatch 2 to get max FPS, and we’ll also help you in fixing your lag.

As a bonus, we’ll walk you through some of the perfect crosshairs presets you can have to track all of those pesky Mercy mains.

Best Settings for Getting Max FPS in Overwatch 2

Let us walk you through some of the main settings in OW2  that you need to tweak to hit those high frame rates and fix the lag you might be facing. We will also be disabling settings that are purely aesthetic and disrupt your focus in any way. So, let’s get into it.

Display

The most important thing in this menu is the Display Mode, which you need to set to Fullscreen to avoid any unnecessary input delay. The Target Display should be set to Best Match and your Screen Resolution needs to be the highest possible along with the refresh rate in the brackets.

This will allow your game to run super smooth while not being blurry and weird. Dynamic Render Scaling should only be turned on if you have a really old PC that is struggling to hit the required FPS. This setting allows you to trade visual fidelity with frames if the situation is dire.

Vsync, Triple Buffering, and Reduce Buffering should all be Turned OFF. If you are facing stutters and want to limit your FPS, you can rely on the Frame Rate setting and set it up according to your needs.

Enable Nvidia Reflex if you want to gain an edge and improve your reaction time a little. But keep it on the first step, as the second step often puts a little too much load on the CPU, which can result in FPS drops if you have a low-end PC. The last 3 settings are purely preference-based and can be freely tweaked until you get the desired results

Graphics

Scooting over to the Graphics tab, we are going to recommend that you use the Low graphics quality preset and just Turn On a select few things like Shadow Detail as it can help you spot flying and flanking enemies. The rest of the settings don’t matter, as OW2 is a pretty game that looks crisp no matter which preset you play on.

Our goal here is to achieve the smoothest and highest framerates possible while fixing any lag players might face during chaotic moments like Ultimate spams and when every hero is visible on the screen.

Details

This tab is purely preference-based settings. If you want to see things like your Framerate, Network Latency, or how stressed your GPU is… then you can turn on these settings to know more. You can even turn on a mini clock in one corner of your screen to know what time it is.

Accessibility

You need to set your Camera Shake to Reduced. This will help you in reducing the tremors/screen shakes you feel when certain heroes use their abilities & allow you to stay focused on your targets.

You also need to Turn OFF both the Hud Shake and Reduce Menu Movement as they both don’t provide any competitive advantage and hinder your ability to stay focused on flying/moving targets.

Controls

The most important thing that you need to figure out and tweak in OW2 is your sensitivity as an uncalibrated sensitivity will spell doom for you during moments in a match that require precise tracking and flicking onto enemies.

We suggest keeping it anywhere between 3.5 to 5.0 if you are on 800 DPI and if you prefer playing on 400 DPI then you can try 7.0 to 8.5

Perfect Crosshair Settings in Overwatch 2

OW2 allows you to customize your crosshair exactly to your liking. You can have it as a traditional crosshair, a dot of any size, or a square of any color and size. There’s a lot of space for personalization, and that is always a plus in our books.

We suggest using a high-contrast color and setting your Crosshair Type to Dot. Having a dot crosshair allows you to always see clearly beyond the target, and this also helps in tracking heroes with smaller hitboxes like Tracer and Mercy. We’ve attached a picture of the recommended crosshair preset below.

Wrapping Up

Follow these graphics settings in Overwatch 2 to ensure that your system can pull the Max FPS possible and make your game as less distracting as possible. We have also included a handy crosshair preset at the end that works well on all maps and is very distinct.
