Overwatch 2 is just around the corner, and with players ready to make the move, it’s crucial that you know this convenience that Blizzard has offered to players that can make your life a hell of a lot easier.

In this guide, we will be showing you how to merge accounts in Overwatch 2 from different platforms into one, netting all your purchases into one profile.

How to Link My Overwatch Console Account to Battle.net?

To successfully link your accounts, you will have to log into Overwatch on the console you play and follow the steps below.

  1. Select “Options” at the menu of the game.
  2. Go to the “Link Account” tab.
  3. Scan the QR code using your mobile.
  4. Use the code to log into your Battle.net account or create a new one.
  5. From your console, select “Account Merge”.
  1. Make it absolutely sure that the selected profile you’ve logged in from is the one you want to merge.
  2. Select the confirm button to successfully merge.

Repeat the same process for all of the different console accounts you have (which can be on Switch, Xbox, or PlayStation), to assimilate your progress into one account.

Note: You can not link more than one account of the same console.

Can I Change Linked Accounts?

If you think you’ve made a mistake and would like to link another account to Overwatch 2, you can remove it from Battle.net at any time.

Keep in mind however that after doing so, you will have to wait a total of one year to link a new account.

What Happens if I Don’t Link My Account?

For starters, if you play only on the PC, you will not have to go through this process, and your progress will automatically transfer to the newer version of the game.

Console players will have to go through with the aforementioned method to make a move to the next game. There’s no confirmation as to how long they’ll allow merging since they’ve been fairly vague regarding the subject. To be safe, complete the merge as soon as possible to avoid any inconvenience.

Do All Of My Items Carry Over to Overwatch 2?

Yes, all unlocks from the previous game will be available for you to use in the newer version of the game. This includes event skins as well. Newer additions to the cosmetics will only be purchasable through Overwatch Coins, while skins from the original can be bought through Legacy Credits, which you will receive at a 1:1 ratio based on how many you had in Overwatch 1.

Wrapping Up

That just about sums it up. Every byte of your data from Overwatch 1 will be seamlessly transferred to your Overwatch 2 profile without a hitch. If you’ve only been playing on PC, there’s not much to worry about.

For console players, however, Blizzard has been pushing players to complete the merge as soon as possible. There’s no confirmation as to when this facilitation will end, but we have to assume that it won’t last forever to avoid any exploitation within the community.
