We all want to grow as fast as possible on Twitch and one of the ways you can grow your channel is through giveaways. Not only will giveaways help you grow your channel but they are a way to give back to your community.
While you can run a giveaway without any software and pick someone at random from your chat, some people may not see this as a fair way to choose a winner. You may even be accused of fixing the draw. This is why it is a good idea to use something like Streamlabs Giveaway function to do your giveaway.
It keeps everything fair and allows you to pick a winner at random. Let’s jump in and take a look at how to run a giveaway in Streamlabs.
How To Create A Giveaway In Streamlabs
Before we can start a giveaway we need to create it in Streamlabs Cloudbot. To do this follow the steps below:
- Go to Streamlabs and log in to your account
- Click on Cloudbot on the menu in the left hand side
- In Cloudbot navigate to the giveaways tab
- Here you will see an option to giveaway merch or set up your own custom giveaway. If you want to giveaway merch you will have to have at least 1 piece of merch available on your Streamlabs store. Most of you will probably want to do a custom giveaway.
- Click on the “Create a new Giveaway” button
- Here we can set up the basics of our giveaway.
Name – Give your giveaway a Name
Timer – How long your viewers have to enter your giveaway
Permission – Who can enter the giveaway. You can set this to Everyone, Subscribers Only or Subscribers and Moderators
Enter A Prize – Fill in the details of your prize
- Under the advanced tab there are some advanced features you can adjust on your giveaway if you want to.
Must Be A Follower To Win – Selecting this box will allow only followers to win a prize. This is a good way to incentivize follows on your channel.
Ticket Cost – If you use the loyalty system in Cloudbot you can make it so that people have to use loyalty points to enter the giveaway. (I personally don’t recommend this).
Subscriber/Non-Subscriber Bonus Tickets – Gives subs or non-subs extra entries into the giveaway.
Add whatever extra features you feel necessary. Personally I only recommend selecting the followers only option.
- Click on the add button to finalise creating your giveaway
You will now see your giveaway in the Custom giveaways section ready to start.
How To Start A Giveaway In Streamlabs
Once you have created your giveaway you need to start it so people can enter. Follow the steps below to enter the chat.
- Click on the “Start Giveaway” button
- You will see a Streamlabs announcement appear in your chat
- Users can enter the giveaway by typing !raffle in the chat
- You will then be able to see all of the entries in the Streamlabs giveaway dashboard. You can also see how long is left and close the entries early.
- Once the timer has ran out or you close the entries you can click on the “Pick Winner” button to randomly select a winner. The winner will appear on the screen.
When picking a winner you may want to share this screen with your audience so that they know everything is legit. It will just give your audience a little bit more trust in the giveaway.
The winner will also be tagged and announced in your stream chat.

How To View Past Giveaways
Streamlabs allows you to view past giveaways if you ever want to check who won in the past or check how many entries you previously had. To check past giveaways on Streamlabs follow the steps below:
- Navigate to Streamlabs.com and log in to your account
- Click on Cloudbot in the left hand menu
- Select the Giveaways tab
- Click on Giveaway History
Here you will be able to view past giveaways and winners.
How To Re-Use Previous Giveaways In Streamlabs
If you have set up a giveaway and want to regularly do similar giveaways on your channel you can re-use the previous set up. Just head back into the giveaway section inside Streamlabs, open the custom tab and click on “Start Giveaway“.
A new giveaway will start with the same settings as your past one without having to go through the setup process again.
If you plan on giving away a different prize you can click on the 3 dots on the top right of the giveaway –> edit –> Change the description of the prize available.
Twitch Giveaway Ideas To Get More Followers/Subscribers
There are lots of different items you can giveaway to gain more followers and subscribers on Twitch. Ideally you want to give away something that is in high demand. If you are giving away a higher ticket item >$50 you may want to only offer the giveaway to subscribers. This is a great bonus for the people who support you and also incentivizes other people to Subscribe to the channel.
Below are a few ideas that you can use for the first giveaway on your channel. Obviously what you choose will depend on the size of your audience and budget.
New Games – If you are streaming a brand new game on release day, giving away a copy or two of the game can be a great way to bring in more viewers on the channel. Lots of people want the latest game but maybe can’t justify paying the high price tag. Offering a giveaway gives them incentive to watch you and have a chance of winning the new game.
Gift Cards & Points – You can giveaway gift cards for the Steam or Microsoft store or potentially even points for the game you play. For example if you stream Fifa, you may want to giveaway Fifa points on your stream. These are some lower ticket items that get your audience excited but don’t cost a lot of money.
Consoles – If you are a bigger streamer you may be able to justify giving away a console. For example if you could get your hands on a PS5 at release you could do a giveaway on your channel for subscribers. As they are in high demand people will be more likely to sub to your channel to be in with a chance of winning the console.
Merch – If you have your own merch you can do a giveaway with it.
