Over the years, many games have come out with all of them adding more content to the story as well as gameplay improvements, with the latest one coming out in 2021.
If you’re a hardcore fan of the series or even if you’re a newcomer, you might want to know if you should play the game chronologically or if you can just jump into whichever one looks the best for you. Don’t worry, because we are here to tell you if you should play Halo 5 before Halo Infinite.
Should I Play Halo 5 Before Halo Infinite?
Yes, you should. While you could theoretically jump into Halo Infinite and still have a fun time, you would be missing out on large parts of the story that makes Halo what it is. The previous Halo games layout a good gameplay foundation for you to get used to it, and since Halo Infinite introduces new gameplay mechanics, it can’t hurt to have some previous knowledge of the games.
Should I Play Halo 5?
Halo 5: Guardians is a relatively new installment of the series that has the same style of gameplay as previous releases. You play as Master Chief, a Spartan warrior who has a special suit of armor called MJOLNIR which boosts his physical attributes as well as provides him with additional defenses.
Being a Sci-FI game, you are tasked with going to a strange alien planet to rescue a researcher named Dr. Halsey. Your squad is comprised of quite a few elite warriors who all have abilities that make them an asset to the team. This is not a simple rescue mission, however, as complications do arise and you have to risk your life fighting against the inhabitants of the planet.
From here, the story is just what you would expect — a ton of carnage and exciting moments, memorable story points, and much more. Halo 5 is a mandatory play if you are a fan of the series and have played the games up until this point because the way they are designed is so intriguing and addictive to play. You should absolutely play Halo 5: Guardians if you have the chance.
Should I Play Halo Infinite
Halo Infinite is the newest installment of the series and has some new and interesting features that have allowed it to leave its mark on gaming today. The story follows Master Chef, of course, except now he is in an outright war with Cortana, who has rebelled against humanity, hoping to extinguish it.
When it comes to the gameplay, it is a semi-open-world, where you can walk around the planet the game is set on and choose what you want to do. One of the possible things you can do is scour the environment for bases that have to be cleared of enemies. Aside from this, there are many other objectives to complete, each of which has a ton of content to enjoy and immerse yourself in.
Like many other Halo games, you also have a multiplayer component that is completely free to play and features many of the most popular game modes you can enjoy with your friends. The multiplayer section has also seen some improvements to mechanics along with completely new ones. As you can see, Halo Infinite is shaping up to be one of the best Halo experiences yet, and you should absolutely play it if you want to immerse yourself into everything Halo is!
How Are They Connected?
The events of Halo 5 and Halo Infinite are directly connected, with the final scenes of a shard of Cortana taking control of the Guardians being the main plot point of the second game. This means that you should play them chronologically if you want to experience the entire story.
Now you have all of the information you need to create an Xbox lobby and spend the entire weekend playing these fantastic games, just like in the old days.
