Overwatch 2 has finally launched. While it has been plagued with bugs at launch, those who have got into the game are enjoying it. If you are trying to improve at the game and level up the ranks in Overwatch 2 you have probably heard people talking about FOV or Field Of View.
Adjusting your Field of View allows you to see more on your monitor. You get a wide view of the map. The wider your view the more information you will be able to take in. Playing on a high FOV may be the difference between seeing a player approaching you or not seeing them at all. This is why you see most professional Overwatch players, play on a higher FOV.
How To Change FOV On Overwatch 2
- While in the main Overwatch 2 Home Screen click ESC or click on the Menu button in the bottom right corner.
- Select ‘Options’ from the menu
- Select the video settings menu. You can find the field of view slider near the top.
- Use the slider to select your desired field of view.
- Click apply and go back to your game. Your field of view will now have changed.
80 is the lowest field of view and 103 is the maximum field of view.
What Is The Best FOV In Overwatch 2
There are benefits and drawbacks to having a high and low FOV. In the screenshot below you can see a comparison of 80 FOV vs 103 FOV.
With a wider field of view, you can see a lot more. For example, the first bot on the left is barely visible at 80 FOV but we can clearly see it at 103. This is great to have more information about what is going on on the map around you.
However, when you play on a high FOV you can see that targets in the distance appear much further away. They are smaller and harder to hit. At an 80 FOV the targets in the distance are clearly visible but at 103 they look much smaller.
It is up to you to find the right balance. If you have a laser beam aim then it is probably better to go with a high FOV giving you more information. If you’re just getting started and are learning the game, playing on a lower FOV will make hitting targets easier.
How To Change FOV on Overwatch 2 Console
Unfortunately, you are unable to change your FOV on Overwatch 2 for the console. This is now a feature which is included in many console games so we may see a future update bring Field Of View to console players.
