If you have been experiencing problems with Streamlabs such as lag, dropped frames or your game having frame rate issues, there is a chance that Streamlabs could be causing the problem.
This could potentially be due to you running an older, outdated version of the software. If you want to keep your stream running smoothly you should ensure that you are keeping your software up to date.
In this article, we will break down how you can update Streamlabs. Let’s jump in.
How To Update Streamlabs
With OBS Studio the update process is simple. You just navigate to the help section and click on “Check For Updates”. Unfortunately the process isn’t quite as simple on Streamlabs.
Even though Streamlabs is built on top of OBS Studio there is no option to update within the software itself. We have looked through all of the menus and checked the support documentation from Streamlabs only to find that there is no update feature in the software.
Streamlabs will automatically roll out any updates directly to your software when they become available.
You may notice when you load into Streamlabs a screen sometimes appears stating that “Streamlabs is updating“. This is the latest update being installed on your system.
Unfortunately there is no way to manually update the software from the menus.
How To Manually Update Streamlabs
The only way to manually update on Streamlabs is to uninstall the application from your computer, re-download it from the Streamlabs website and install it again. This will install the latest version of Streamlabs on your machine.
This step is unlikely to be needed as Streamlabs should automatically update the software. However, if you believe there is a problem and it is not updating it may be the best way to go. Follow the steps below to uninstall Streamlabs on your computer:
- Navigate to the Windows button on your PC and search for “Apps & Features”. Click on “Apps & Features”
- Search for Streamlabs OBS in the Search Bar
- Click on Stremlabs OBS –> Uninstall
This will start the uninstall process for Streamlabs OBS. Once you have finished the uninstaller, you can download and install the latest version of Streamlabs from their website.
Follow the installer to re-install Streamlabs to your computer.
How Can I Tell What Version Of Streamlabs I Have?
You can see what version of Streamlabs you have by looking at the top bar of your application. It will say “Streamlabs – [Your Version]”.
Unfortunately, this is probably not the article you wanted to read about updating your software but this is the best method to do it. Hopefully Streamlabs will add a manual update button to the software sometime soon.
