Some people like to show case their viewer count on their stream. Streamers do this for a number of reasons. Motivating viewers to hit a viewer target, to have their view count on the VOD etc. If you want to add a viewer count to OBS we have you covered in this tutorial. Let’s jump in and take a look.

How To Add Viewer Count To OBS Studio

To add a viewer count to OBS Studio you will need to create a stream elements account if you don’t already have one. You can do this at StreamElements.com. Once you have your account set up follow the steps below.

Step 1 – Create A Viewer Count Widget

Inside Stream Elements navigate to Streaming Tools –> Overlays Gallery –> Widgets –> Viewer Count –> Create.

When you click on create you will be asked if you want to create a new overlay or use an existing one. If you have an existing overlay you want to add a viewer count to select Add to existing otherwise select Create A New Overlay –> Continue.

You will then be asked to Give your them a name. Name it and click on Create my overlay.

You will then be presented with a URL that we need to add into OBS to showcase our viewer count on stream.

Step 2 – Add Your Viewer Count Widget To OBS

To add your viewer count widget open up OBS and navigate to the scene you want to add the count to. Go to Sources –> + –> Browser. Give your browser source a name and move to the next step.

You will now be presented with the screen below where you will paste the URL from the previous step. Change the width to 1800 pixels and click OK.

The viewer count widget should now appear in your scene in OBS Studio just like the screenshot below.

Step 3 – Editing Your Viewer Count Widget Inside Stream Elements

As this is a very simple widget there really isn’t much that we can edit on it. However if you want to change the font size, font and color you can do so.

To do this open Stream Elements and navigate to Streaming Tools –> My Overlays –> Select the Overlay you just created. Click on Edit to open the Stream Elements editor. Once inside the editor click on “Custom Widget 1” –> Settings.

Here you are able to change your font, text size and color to match your branding on Stream. Once you have made your desired updated save your work in the top right. Your updates will then automatically be applied inside OBS Studio.

Wrapping up

You now have successfully added a viewer count to OBS Studio using the stream elements extension. People will now be able to see how many viewers were online even if they were watching a VOD etc.
